Meritxell Mir from Barcelona
Spain, is a reporter, radio announcer, researcher, and journalist.
Her illustrious career includes her work as a reporter for "El Mundo
"- a Spanish National Daily Newspaper with a circulation of over
800,000 readers. Early in her career she worked with "Radio
nou Barris" as an announcer covering local issues, and writing
and casting for the daily news. Meritxell investigated, researched and
did interviews for the column "Mondo Washington" for the "Village
Voice" published in New York (650,000 readers) where she did exhaustive
coverage of the impact on New York City after the 9/11 disaster. Meritxell
also assisted an independent American producer of video documentaries,
Ridgeway Productions in New York, with the production of
a documentary of the 9/11 effects on the muslim community in the
USA. Currently living in Barcelona, Meritxell is a reporter for the "Europa
Press", writing about international events related to the environment,
cultural diversity and the paths to reach peace. She holds a degree
in Journalism from the Universitat Autónoma of Barcelona, and a
certificate in Advanced English. She is fluent in Spanish and Catalan.

Angeles Fernández was
born in Burgos, Spain. Burgos is a city located in the region of Castilla
y Leán, where the Spanish language was first spoken and written.
Angeles studied 2nd cycle of English Philology (English and Spanish language,
literature, phonetics and history; Latin) at the "Universidad of
Valladolid" and 3rd year of English and French Languages at the "Official
School of Languages" in Spain. Today Angeles is teaching the Spanish
online course "Practical Spanish", at www.UniversalClass.com.
She also offers 1 to 1 Spanish tutoring online. She has found out, by
teaching her own language, how Spanish is today appreciated and learned
all around the world. Angeles and her family live in Burgos where she
writes to us about life in Spain!
Yanina Ibarra, from Buenos Aires Argentina,
holds a Bachelors degree in Communication focused on Cultural and Educative
themes and Technician in Writing. She completed her undergraduate
studies at UNER, Argentina. Continuing her educational pursuits,
Yanina is currently finishing a Masters course in Communication for Development
at Malmo University, Sweden. She is also working as a freelance writer
and coordinating a communication project focused on spreading information
on NGOs in Argentina. Yanina's exceptional writing skills and her extensive
travel experience gives Think Spanish! readers first hand insight
into the lives and cultures in various Spanish speaking countries throughout
the world.
Paula Meggiolaro from Buenos Aires, Argentina
holds a degree in Advertising from the University of Commercial Sciences
of Buenos Aires. Throughout her career with major advertising agencies
she has continued to develop her greatest passion: writing. In addition
to writing for Think Spanish, she collaborates with Marcopolo, a magazine
for travelers, and with LiveMiami, a magazine about lifestyle, culture
and real estate in Miami, with distribution in all Latin America. An avid
traveler and language enthusiast Paula is fluent in: Spanish, English,
French and speaks a bit of Italian. Her love for language, travel and
writing shines through in her dynamic Think Spanish! articles.
Mariella Guth,
from San José Costa Rica , holds a Bachelors
degree in Journalism with emphasis in Mass Production ("Universidad Latina
de Costa Rica"). She studied 3rd year Spanish Philology at the "Universidad
Autónoma de Centroamérica" and is presently working towards
a Master degree with an emphasis in Language. She is member of the Journalist's
Union and the Journalist's Association of Costa Rica. She has learned
English, a little German and Japanese as well. Mariella works at the "Instituto
Universal de Idiomas" ( www.universal-edu.com
), one of the oldest and most experienced language schools
of Costa Rica . Her work there includes the teaching of Spanish as a second
language especially to beginners and intermediate students. Thanks to
this, she has met people from all around the world!
Lucía Terra, from Uruguay , is
a Social and Cultural Anthropologist with a Master in Cross-Cultural Communication.
After studying in the U.S. as part of a Fulbright Scholarship, she later
specialized in International Development and Non-profit Organizations.
Having recently relocated to Canada she has opened a Consulting firm offering
services as writer, editor and translator. She has been teaching languages
for the past ten years -Spanish, English, and German- and has been learning
foreign languages since she was four. Her love for foreign languages and
cultures has taken her to learn Italian and Portuguese as well as to explore
Arabic, Malay and Russian. She is now learning some French. An avid
traveller, she has visited and lived in more than 20 countries around
the world. She is presently based in Canada and writing a book on her

Victor Villegas, is a certified English/Spanish
medical interpreter, bilingual media producer, marketeer and educator.
His company, VicMedia, provides bilingual services to hospitals, clinics,
businesses, non-profit organizations and private individuals. Services
include interpreting, document translation, market research, video/DVD
production and editing, voice-over work, audio recording, graphic design,
digital photography and printing. Victor also teaches conversational Spanish,
writes for different publications and teaches private music lessons in
English and Spanish. Born in the barrios of "East LA" in California,
USA to immigrant parents from Mexico, Victor grew up speaking Spanish
and English and is considered a native speaker of both languages. He has
also lived and studied in Mexico and prides himself in being fully bilingual
and bicultural. Currently, Victor and his family live in Salem, Oregon

Melanie Miguel, supplies the delicious
monthly recipes for Think Spanish! Magazine every month. Melanie learned
to speak Spanish and to cook from her mother-in-law, Victoria Abraham,
while living in Mexico City. Victoria was born in the Yucatan Peninsula
and most of her recipes are from that area. After returning to the United
States, Melanie returned to college and now holds a B.A. in Spanish, International
Studies and Political Science. She began writing a column for Prodigy’s
Food & Wine Bulletin Board under the subject “melsmex”
long before the Internet was widely available. While collecting her written
recipes, Melanie began to create an e-cookbook, which is sold on her recipe
site at www.melsmex.com.
The website contains a list of recipes in the cookbook, along with some
of Melanie’s favorite recipes, pictures, and requests from readers.
